Baal Shem Tov

Born: about 1698 as Israel ben Eliezer, in Okopy Świętej Trójcy, close to Kameniec Podolski, Poland, now Ukraine.
Died: 22 May 1760 Międzybóż, Podolian Voivodeship, Poland, now Ukraine.
Israel Ben Eliezer was a Jewish mystical rabbi, who is regarded as the founder of Hasidic Judaism.
He is also known as Besht. "Besht" is the acronym for Baal Shem Tov, which means "Master of the Good Name".
